Green Way
Do you have weekly goals? One of mine is to stay green. I’ve started to recycle more, buy green products, and be more conscious of my daily habits.
Some ideas to keep you green:
- Stop leaving your card in idle – Did you know Americans idle away 2.9 billion gallons of gas a year?
- Turn off your computer at night to save your battery and electricity bill.
- Don’t let your AC run when you leave for work.
- Wash your clothes in cold water and let them air dry to keep them looking fresh.
- Pay your bills online.
- Save paper and recycle for scrap paper.
How do you stay green?

Freeze & Save!

Do you use your freezer? Yes, we store meat and other food items in the freezer, but times have changed. In the old days, people use to store money in their freezer to protect it from robbers. Today, people store other items in their freezer to save money.
I stumbled across this article on things to store in your freezer and have done a few of them:
- Batteries – NiMH batteries can keep their life going 90% longer with a little freezer action, and studies have proven how freezers help batteries maintain a longer life. I’ve been doing this for years!
- Candles – Throw your wax candles in the freezer for a longer burn.
- Pantyhose – Believe it or not, this can extend the life of pantyhose and make them less likely to run. I’ve saved money on this one!
Do you have any tricks up your sleeve?

Plastic Numbers And What They Mean

While you are going green and recycling for the environment, you might find it hard to understand the plastics and the codes that are attached to them.
At my community, the plastic recycling bin reads, “plastics 1-7″ only. I don’t know what the numbers mean, but I place my plastic bottles in there anyway.
If you are like me and want to know what the plastic resin chart is read here and recycle the right way.
