What Are You Doing For Labor Day?

This weekend is Labor Day Weekend and I can’t wait! I always wait for this weekend to roll around because I spend it at home in my apartment at Carlyle Station. While that may sound a little boring it’s not. Why?
I invite some friends and neighbors over and we all celebrate the holiday weekend together. It’s a lot of fun actually. We do something different each year, last year we hung out by the pool one day then cooked together the next. Actually every year we cook, we create a Labor Day menu and everyone brings an item for the meal.
This year we’re having a Portobello and Asparagus Salad with Fried Chicken and for dessert we’re making a Lemon Ricotta Granita!
What are you doing for Labor Day?

Swimming Benefits!

While swimming for me has always been for pleasure I’m thinking of swimming for exercise. I’ve always been a “water baby” so why not swim for exercise?
Swimming has some great benefits for the body. It’s better on the joints and I have to say there’s more pleasure in it.
Carlyle Station Apartments has a great Jr. Olympic Sized Pool with an outdoor hot tub. I can swim my laps for about an hour then jump (ease myself) into the hot tub! What do you use the pool for at Carlyle Station Apartments; leisure or exercise?

Changing it up in your Apartment!

Change is good for everyone, while some people would rather not change we all know we need it. That also go for your apartments as well. Decorating and redecorating your apartment can be really good for you. Personally I love to repurpose items! What changes do you go through with your apartment? I found 3 great ideas that you can use on your apartment!
Back up your furniture- Why not back up your desk to the sofa? It will separate the room and make use of dead space.- Seating- Don’t have enough seating in your apartment? Get some floor cushions or make floor cushions and everyone will love sitting on the floor!
- Lighting- Apartment light fixtures can be boring, try storing them away and getting ones you really like!

How do you freshen up your apartment?

After cleaning my apartment I love to light candles to get rid of the cleaning supply smell. It also creates a relaxing atmosphere and allows me to rest after working hard. How do you freshen up your apartment? Do you use scented room spray, candles, scented plug-ins or reed diffusers? Vote on our poll and let us know what you think! Don’t see what you use on the poll, then just comment!

Prepping for a Vacation

The joys of prepping for a vacation. As much fun as vacations are, they tend to be a little stressful. You’ve got to book your airline tickets, decide on transportation, figure out lodging, and anything else you need. I’ve made a to-do list for every trip and it honestly saves me time. It helps eliminate forgetting things and even keeps my trip stress free.
Here’s the few things I do to prep for departure:
- Watch the weather here and where I am going to, so I know what to pack
- Decide how I am getting to the airport: parking, leave my car at the airport or have a friend take me to the airport
- Pack a few days ahead of time
- Take a book for the plane
- Day of the trip: wake up earlier and make sure everything is ready to go!
How do you prep for a vacation?
